Arthur van der Wees is founder and managing director of international tech-by-design law firmArthur's Legal, with its headquarters in Amsterdam and offices in Seoul, Brussels, Barcelona and New York, founded in 2001. He is senior lawyer, technologist, standardisation expert, investor and frequent speaker worldwide, who has indepth experience and is well-connected in the world of technology, data, digital transformation, compliance & global business.


Arthur's Legal is Founding Member of European Commission's Alliance IoT Innovation (AIOTI), Co-Chair of AIOTI Policy WG, Project Leader of AIOTI Privacy-by-Design taskforce and Security-by-Design taskforce, co-author of the EC Cloud SLA Standardisation Guidelines, Cloud Security Alliance's Privacy Level Agreement 2.0, co-contributor to ISO standards such as ISO/IEC 19086, guest blogger with the European Commission, co-author of the IERC Handbook 2016 (Internet of Things).Furthermore, Arthur's Legal is EC H2020 project IoT CREATE consortium partner and activity group leader on trust, security, privacy, legal and compliance topics in IoT in five EU large scale pilots on smart healthcare, smart cities, wearables, smart farming, food safety and autonomous mobility with EUR 250M of accrued EC funding.


Arthur van der Wees is co-founder of (i) Institute for Next Generation Compliance that promotes the rethinking, restructuring and human-centric automation of compliance and related procurement processes, collaboration and documentation, (ii) the CyberChess Institute that landscapes the real-life cybersecurity arena worldwide, (iii) Cyber Trust Institute that sets trust trajectories and orbital requirements and parameters for technology-as-a-service, (iv) CloudQuadrants on the maturity of cloud offerings, and (v) Institute for Data & Evidence Based Trust that aims to build and enhance trust and data protection in open, decentralized digital, cyber-physical and virtual ecosystems with privacy-proof distributed ledger, blockchain and data-centric security methodologies.


One of his other ventures is Zapplied Platform, active globally with offices in Amsterdam, New York & Seoul, which combines cloud technology & artificial intelligence with knowledge & deal automation and social collaboration. Any organisation can use the capabilities to both retain, structure and maintain knowledge within its organisation as well as to disseminate it. With that an organisation can both build its own AI as well as it own corporate memory, which is available realtime, anywhere, any time.
